Of Billboards, Elephants and Snickers

Advertising is so interesting. Especially when it's about eating. Especially when it's about eating nutrient-loaded candy bars.

So what's with this Snickers? Let's zoom on in a wee bit closer. Say, can you smell that yet? As for me, my nose is still processing the men's after-shave that just wafted past. . .

Have you ever eaten an elephant?

Snickers Super: The Very Biggest in History.

No connection ~ either implied or inferred (whatever that means) ~ between plowing through Snickers Supers and turning into an elephant.

Hi! I just found your blog, and I've been enjoying reading it :) I'm from the US but living in Moscow now. Are your trees still that green now? Here there's all but a few yellow leaves hanging on...

I love Russian advertising. And no, I've never eaten an elephant, but I do think that I'd feel like one after eating a Super Snickers!

hello from Barrie, Ontario. the advertisement reminds me of the joke.
how do you eat an elephant? One bite at the time.

Living in Moscow is the same climatically as living here in Barrie, Ontario. the cold has set in and sooner rather than later we will be deluged by snow. I will lift my weight in snow as I shovel it off the walk and driveway after the first snowstorm. I have a fireplace and plenty of books to read, with a book or two to write. Call me when winter is over..cheers.

Hello, just thought I'd put in my 2 cents for the add. There is a saying in Russia "I am so hungry, I could eat an elephant". So I think the meaning is "are you that hungry that you could eat an elephant..."
